Advanced Hires is a dynamic, talented group of people who work hard to make sure that our clients AND candidates are happy. We strive for quality relationships, not just numbers to show off. We want YOU to get to know US. Today on “Meet the Team”, where we post interviews with Advanced Hires’ internal staff members, we talk to Tina Rock, Partner.

What is your role within Advanced Hires, and what’s your favorite thing about working at AH?

I am a partner in the business and work as the primary sales/client relationship manager.

What do you look for in a candidate?

I personally look for individuals who are able to communicate their role within a company effectively and efficiently; someone who may have technical skills and a good demeanor and/or personality; someone who may not be as technical but understands what the business needs and can describe it in tech terms is great too.

What is the most helpful thing a client could tell you about their hiring process?

That they will pre-set interview times! This is so important.

What kind of people do you want to work with?

For internal employees, I like people who are hard workers with a strong work ethic and a moral compass; people who do right by not only the companies we work with, but those who treat all candidates with dignity and respect. I learned early in my career that you should return all calls and/or emails within 24 hours, even if someone’s background is not a fit for the role that you currently are recruiting for. The mentality I have taken with me is “cradle to grave”: I work with people in the infancies of their careers as well as those in the sunsets of their lives in the workforce.

In your opinion, what makes a candidate stand out in the crowd?

Someone who is a good writer has a gift. Also, someone who has solid eye contact that is natural, (and not creepy) is good if they are in a physical crowd of people.

List your three best qualities:

I operate with integrity, kindness, and respect.

What’s something a stranger might be surprised to find out about you?

I grew up installing HVAC systems with my dad, older brother, and younger sister. I started at the age of 12 by carrying tools and learning basics under my dad. I eventually progressed into being the foreman on the job, and my sister and I could install all the duct work necessary for the furnace or A/C unit. My parents did not pay for college, but paid me a healthy wage so I could save money for college. I graduated a 4-year bachelor’s program with less than $15K of debt and a double major because of the work ethic instilled in me by my parents.

What’s your favorite guilty-pleasure TV show?

A Million Reasons Why.

What place in Milwaukee would you spend all your time at if you could?

The Hudson Business + Lounge during the day. Blu (top of the Pfister) at night.
