Companies and Candidates – BEWARE of Recruiting Games!
It has come to our attention there are several small recruiting companies springing up around Milwaukee that have resorted to what we call “recruiting games”, which is something Advanced Hires does NOT engage in. The following are some things to be wary of when working with a recruiting company:
Posting false jobs.
This is very common in the industry. Be particularly skeptical when a recruiting firm names a reputable client on the job description. Posting false jobs is done for four reasons:
- For the recruiting agency to build a pipeline of candidates.
- Classic “bait and switch.” Once you apply or express interest, the recruiter explains that the position is no longer available, but that you qualify for another position. This is done because the real position is something that would ordinarily not capture your attention. This is very common. Advanced Hires NEVERS post positions for this purpose, ever!
- To submit your information to the client without speaking to you in an effort to stake an ownership claim over your application.
- To trick the candidate into the recruiting firm’s application system. The recruiter does not even have permission or an agreement in place, but they are tricking you to apply through their recruiting firm to enable them to get a contract.
When recruiting firms lump clients and partners together.
Recruiting firms know not to list their clients names on their site for many reasons. So if you see “Clients and Partners” together, they may be listing many partners they have engaged with in a non-recruiting capacity. This tactic misleads clients and candidates to believe that many of their well known partners are actually clients.
Companies that post unrealistic statistics.
Always ask how data was collected and how it’s measured.
Be skeptical of companies who lack testimonials.
You know a company is the real deal if they have many testimonials with names, along with people who are not afraid to appear on video.
Beware of recruiters that require you to sign paperwork.
The only paperwork you should ever have to sign is a job offer when it comes. NEVER sign paperwork requiring you to commit to the recruiter. If the recruiter is good, you will not want to use other recruiters, but that choice should always be yours to make.
Ultimately, never apply, or send any paperwork or documents to a recruiting firm without first speaking with the recruiter. Never register on a recruiters site without first speaking with them. Always ask the recruiter if they have an official signed agreement in place authorizing them to represent their client for this position.
How is Advanced Hires different?
- We ONLY post real, active positions.
- Advanced Hires does not lump clients and partners together to mislead people. We make it clear who we are involved with from a “cause” standpoint and the types of clients we serve.
- We STRONGLY encourage candidates to NEVER apply to a recruiting firm’s internal process, submit your resume, or register with a recruiting firm until AFTER you have verbally spoken to the recruiter and feel comfortable. If you are applying through a job board where the client is not named, make sure your resume reads “Does NOT have my permission to share until AFTER verbal communication.”
- We will NEVER submit you to our clients until after we interviewed you and you know the identity of the company and we have your permission.
- We NEVER recruit for false positions and engage in other shady tactics. Again, never send a recruiter anything until after you have spoken to them and verified that they are authorized to recruit on the position they seek interest.
Advanced Hires is the real deal. We do not engage in any types of trickery or games. Clients and candidates who hate working with recruiters love us because of our trustworthy recruiters and successful track record. For no-nonsense, honest representation contact us today!
