How are Recruiting & Placement Firms prioritizing your open job order? To allocate proper time and resources, Recruiting & Placement Firms prioritize open job orders as A, B, and C. There are many factors that determine what priority it gets. Among the many factors, the below questions (and answers to such questions) determine the priority level:
- How long has the position been open for?
- Is there flexibility in salary for the right talent?
- Is there flexibility with specific requirements for the right transferable skills? If so, what?
- Is their work from home options or flexibility– even if just once a week?
- How does your PTO policy compare with other companies who attract top talent?
- How many other recruiting & placement firms are currently working on the order? For how long?
- Is the placement fee fair or unusually low?
- What are the payment terms: net-start date, net-10, net-30, or longer?
- How many people are involved in the decision-making process?
- Do you always have follow up scheduled to circle back with the recruiter?
- What tools are your recruiters, or recruiting firms you are working with, utilizing?
- How do you envision the long-term partnership with the recruiting firm you are working with?
- With the right firm, would you consider exclusivity?
- What level of access does the recruiting firm have to the hiring manager, if any? This is the second most important factor that determines priority level.
- And number one – above all – what is the level of detail in the feedback to the recruiter for those candidates who the recruiter submitted? How quickly is this feedback given? Each and every candidate submitted represents hundreds of dollars of tools, resources, time, and opportunity cost. Also, each candidate represents many hours of hard work and talent it takes to identify such candidates. Clients who provide detailed feedback as to who is hitting or missing the mark are almost always prioritized as “A” orders every time, even if the other factors are not very attractive.
There are many other factors, however, the last bullet-points are under any hiring managers control.
