Q: What questions should I ask before going to a job interview?
Candidates who work with Advanced Hires get a huge amount of interview prep. We can’t share every secret here right now, but these are some solid tips on what you should be asking before job interviews nowadays:
- For COVID: ask if the interview will be virtual or in-person. If it is in-person, you can absolutely ask what kind of safety precautions the company has set-up, such as social distancing and providing masks.
- For your outfit: feel free to ask about the dress code in the office and then plan your outfit accordingly. Don’t forget to dress up even if you’re on a video interview.
- For materials: make sure to ask if you need to bring anything else besides your resume to the interview. Some employers might want samples or a portfolio, or an example of your past work.
- For preparation: ask how many people you’ll be interviewing with and what their names are. This will help you understand what to expect and what kinds of questions you might be asked, as well as gives you a list of people to thank afterwards.
- For you: ask why the position is open and what the last person to have the job is doing now. This helps you understand a little more about upward growth in the position and can give you a sense of company culture.
