Q: How can I show my team I appreciate them and recognize their work without spending a lot of money?

Building a positive team culture is really important, and one of the ways you can do that is by showing gratitude or thanking your employees for their work. This is especially important during a pandemic. A positive team culture might look like:

  • Encouraging Openness and Creative Thinking
  • Showing Appreciation
  • Making the Workplace Functional
  • Cementing Your Team’s Connections

This can create a mutually respected and beneficial relationship between employee and employer. Often this can be easily done by recognizing hard work and rewarding it with things like free lunches, gift cards, etc. But what can you do when money is tight? Here are some ideas for low-cost or no-cost ways to recognize employees:

  • Written thank you note (stationary/post it/email)
  • Public recognition (meeting, announcements, social media post or website post)
  • Extra PTO day
  • Introduction to senior or C suite leaders who might be willing to act as a mentor
  • Early departure/late arrival
  • Summer Fridays
  • Parking Spot
