Q: How many job applications are too many?
None! If you are actively job searching, you don’t need to stay under or over a certain number of job applications. Depending on what field you’re in, you could be applying to hundreds of jobs during a search. You also need to take into account that COVID has slowed down or changed certain hiring processes, so things might not be running with their usual efficiency.
However, once you get into final rounds of an interview, it’s important to focus on that current job. So, for example, don’t pass on a final round interview with a certain job to take a phone interview for a completely different role unless it’s your dream job. It’s also important to consider very carefully if your current company makes you a counteroffer if/when they learn you are leaving. You can read more about that here.
