The Advanced Hires team has made personal and professional goals going into the new year and thought that instead of sharing what those are, it would be more helpful to talk about how to achieve those goals. It’s well and good to set resolutions at work, but how can you keep them? Our team has experience in furthering the career paths of not just themselves, but of clients and candidates. In this new blog series, we will explore what tips we have to offer and how you can make your professional goals a reality.
Marketing Manager Saratoga Schaefer says that their advice for anyone trying to complete a professional resolution this year is to BE SPECIFIC.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by resolutions and goals, especially if they’re vague. Having a big list of things you want to accomplish is great, but your best bet is to narrow that list down and pick a few things to focus on. You can’t do everything at once. It’s better to put all your energy into one thing and getting it done than to divide your energy into a million different things and not get very far on any of them.
Not only that, but being specific about your exact goals can be extremely helpful. Instead of just saying, “I want to get a new job”, make a list of the things your dream job would have. Then do another list of job deal breakers. Finally, have something visualized in your head so that you can be better prepared when you make actual steps towards this goal. Manifesting goals comes from within you. Just make sure you’re not stretching yourself too thin.
